Your words stay yours

Privacy Policy

Effective September 1, 2026

Oakcore Venture LLC (“Oakcore,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) built Oak Journal as a private, device-based journaling application for iOS, iPadOS, and Android. This policy explains how Oak Journal handles information.

Our privacy approach

Oak Journal is designed so that your journal content stays on your device. We do not operate an Oak Journal account service, advertising system, analytics service, or journal-content server.

Information Oak Journal handles

Depending on the features you use, Oak Journal may handle:

This information is processed locally by the app to provide its features. Oakcore does not receive it.

Device permissions

You can manage these permissions in your device settings.

Storage and security

Your journal is stored locally in encrypted app storage. Oak Journal uses security services provided by your device's operating system to help protect journal data and encryption keys.

No security method can guarantee absolute protection. Keep your device passcode private and your operating system up to date.

Important data-loss notice

Oak Journal currently does not provide a transferable backup or cloud synchronization service. Its encryption key is restricted to the device. Deleting Oak Journal, erasing or replacing the device, losing the device, or losing access to its protected storage may permanently remove your journal. Oakcore cannot retrieve or reset your encrypted journal.

Data collection, sharing, and sale

Oakcore does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share your journal content or photographs. Oak Journal does not include third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs.

Apple or Google may process app-store, testing, purchase, crash, or device information under their own terms and privacy policies. That processing is controlled by the applicable platform provider, not Oakcore.

Data retention and deletion

Your journal remains on your device until you delete entries, reset the journal using an available in-app control, or delete the app and its associated local data. Because Oakcore does not possess your journal, we cannot retrieve or delete it remotely.

Children’s privacy

Oak Journal is intended for a broad audience, including children ages 6 and older who can read and write. The app does not require an Oak Journal account, and Oakcore does not knowingly collect personal information, journal content, or photographs from children or other users through the app.

Journal content and selected photographs remain on the device. Oak Journal does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, analytics, social sharing, or communication between users. Parents and guardians can supervise use of the device and manage its permissions, notifications, and security settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Oak Journal evolves. The effective date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, when appropriate, in the app or its store listing.
