Frequently asked questions
Where is my journal stored?
Oak Journal stores your journal locally on your device in a protected, encrypted archive. Oakcore cannot view or retrieve your entries.
Does Oak Journal collect or sell my writing?
No. Oak Journal does not transmit your journal to Oakcore, use advertising trackers, or sell your information.
How do I unlock my journal?
Oak Journal uses the authentication available on your Apple device, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Can I recover my journal after deleting the app or losing my device?
Not currently. Oak Journal does not yet offer transferable backup or cloud synchronization. Deleting the app, erasing the device, or losing access to the device may permanently remove your journal.
Why can’t I add a photograph?
Open Settings on your device, locate Oak Journal, and confirm that Camera or Photos access is allowed. You can change the permission at any time.
Why didn’t my reminder appear?
Confirm that reminders are enabled inside Oak Journal and that notifications are allowed under your device’s Settings for Oak Journal.
The app isn’t responding correctly. What should I try?
- Make sure your journal page has finished saving.
- Close and reopen Oak Journal.
- Restart your device.
- Install the latest Oak Journal and iOS or iPadOS updates.
- Contact support if the problem continues.
Do not delete the app as a troubleshooting step unless you understand that doing so may permanently remove your journal.
